One of my greatest virtues is determination. Whether it be in a sport, in school, or in other competitions I am always determined to do well, and I never give up. In swimming i am so determined to get better, that when i go up to Boston for Thanksgiving I bring swim practices with me and do them at the YMCA near my grandparents house. In school even if my grades are looking bad in a class my, determination allows me to bring them up, and has kept me on honor roll in all of my school years. And in other competitions my determination helps keeps me going even if it seems like Ihave no chance of winning. My determination is a driving force in my life.
With strong determination also comes very strong falls when you are determined to do something that you can't possibly do. One day a few years ago me and my family went to this all purpose fun place. It had go carts, an arcade, batting cages, and a rock climbing wall. Everything was good until I tried to climb a rock wall. My little brother, being not as stocky as myself, was able to climb it in no time, with no problems. After he did it I was 100% determined to reach the top. I got up about five feet and never made it past that point. I kept on falling down, slipping, and losing my grip, but I never gave up. As I continued to fall I began to get tons of bruises and scrapes all over my arms and legs. But even with all of my strength and determination my arms couldn't support my body weight and i had to quit. My determination failed me because it caused me alot of pain that day. once I sat down after my defeat at the wall's hands, I felt the horrible pain of dozens of scrapes and bruises. My determination that day, wasn't enough to get me to the top, and all it did was cause me pain.
